Council is calling for locals to nominate selfless members of our community for recognition at the annual Volunteer High Tea and Awards Ceremony.

The ceremony will be held at 4pm at the Broken Hill Civic Centre on May 23, and nominations are open until May 3.

Council's Volunteer Working Group Chair, Councillor Marion Browne, said volunteers remained a critical part of Broken Hill.

"Many organisations and groups within our community simply would not be able to provide their vital services and support without the contributions of volunteers," said Ms Browne.

"It is so important that we thank them for their contribution and recognise the many hours of service that they provide.

"I strongly encourage locals to take it upon themselves and nominate those that deserve recognition - please don't assume that someone else will do it.

"The nomination process is simple and Council’s Volunteer Working Group can assist anyone if required.”

Organisations and volunteers wishing to attend the ceremony and high tea on October 23 are required to RSVP.

Individuals and volunteer groups can contact Council’s Community Development team on 8080 3321 or email community.development@brokenhill.nsw.gov.au for further information.
