Minerals across three screens against a red background in the Crystal Theatre

How many years ago did the Broken Hill orebody form? When did gravitational forces collapse to create the sun? How many different species of minerals exist in Broken Hill? Within the Albert Kersten Mining and Minerals Museum these questions are answered by the Crystal Theatre, a video experience utilising three screens to elaborate on the rich mineral history of Broken Hill.

Animated sequences show the creation of the universe, formation of the planet and the origin of the Broken Hill orebody. This twelve-minute film allows an engaging and approachable introduction to the topic of mineralogy and sets the tone for the museum to follow.
