Mad Max Marathon Running Festival 2024

This is the second Mad Max Marathon Running Festival in Broken Hill, NSW after a very successful first year in 2023.  The event will be held on Sunday 28th July 2024.

There are five different distance options to choose from, thereby catering for serious runners, weekend joggers, walkers and young children.

The marathon and half marathon events are for runners who have done enough training or racing to be confident of completing the 42.2km or 21.1km distance.  The 10km and 5km events are for runners or walkers and the 2km Maari Ma Health 'round the racetrack' Kids Dash is a FREE event for children U/12 with parents and carers welcome to accompany their children.

All events start and finish at the Gary Radford Pavilion at the Broken Hill Racecourse.

There are medals for all finishers in the longer events and small trophies for the first three males and females in the longer events.

The aim of the Mad Max event is threefold – to attract runners from all over Australia to this unique heritage town; to encourage more local children and adults to get into the running ‘habit’; and to raise funds and awareness of the work of the Maari Ma Health Aboriginal Corporation that provides quality Primary Health Care services and Community Programs for the Aboriginal communities of far western NSW.

Early bird entrants receive a discount on their entry fee and get their first name on their race bib.  Early bird entries close on Sunday 30th June and online entries close on Sunday 14th July.  Late entries and bib pick-up will be accepted at the Gary Radford Pavilion between 9am and 10am and then again from 2pm-5pm on Saturday 27th July.  Late entries and bib pick-up will also be available on event day between 8.00am and 8.30am.
