Library services during COVID-19

We are delighted to welcome you back to the library.

As always, the health and safety of our staff, readers and visitors is our priority so we will be complying strictly with the relevant NSW Public Health Orders as we work to protect everyone who comes through our doors.

Our services won't look the same as normal and may be limited, but the health and safety of our staff and visitors are our top priority, as such compliance with NSW Health requirements and guidelines are central to the conditions and services during this time.

Changes to entering the library

We are complying strictly with NSW Public Health Order guidelines to help protect the health and safety of everyone who comes through our doors.  

As a condition of entry, you must adhere to the following:

  • If you are feeling unwell, please do not enter the building — any readers and visitors exhibiting signs of illness may be asked to leave by Library staff.
  • Treat other readers, visitors and Library staff with courtesy and respect — aggressive and abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Masks must be worn while inside the Library
  • Visitors who do not comply with conditions of entry may be asked to leave by Library staff.

We are also continuing to ensure: 

  • hand hygiene facilities are available at the entrance to the Library and in key locations;
  • bathrooms are well stocked with hand soap and instructions on how to wash hands properly are provided;  
  • all hard surfaces in the Library are regularly cleaned;
  • and study desks, computer keyboards and mouses are cleaned between each use.

Computer access is available, however these are limited, due to physical spacing guidelines.

Our ability to assist you may be limited.

The library’s eLibrary can be accessed from the safety and comfort of your home.  You can access many exciting digital resources including eBooks, eAudiobooks, eStreaming and eMagazines.

The
Library has a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place.

Remote printing and pick up service

If you have documents you need printed send them to the library through our MobilePrint webpage or if you're on a mobile device through the PrinterOn app

Pay for your printing by card, we are no longer longer accepting cash payment.

If you are unable to visit the library to collect your printing within the opening hours please contact us to arrange a suitable pick up time at our collection point.

Frequently asked questions

I joined the library online. Can I borrrow books now?

If you would like to borrow physical items please visit the library to update your membership category and collect your library card.
Please bring some personal identification when collecting your library card.

Can I use multiple borrowing options?

Yes.

You can borrow items through multiple options whether you want to request specific titles or receive a 'mystery' selection of items according to your preferences.


How long is the borrowing period?

The borrowing period is six (6) weeks.
You will receive a printout of items issued to you and their due dates, and a reminder via your preferred method is sent closer to this date. If you would like to keep the items longer you can extend these through your member account in the library catalogue or contact us.

How do I return my library items?

All items can be returned through the after-hours return chute near the library front door.
Hold your items up to the chute, wait for the green light and open the door to put your items in.

I returned my items why are they still showing on my account

As a safety precaution all items are being quarantined before being returned.
If the item is still showing on your account after 7 days please contact us.

Can I browse the shelves?

The collection is open for browsing but please utilise the available sanitising stations.

What hygiene practices and safety protocols are in place?

Staff are following strict hygiene protocols and procedures including regular cleaning, hand washing, sanitising and use of gloves where appropriate.
All items quarantined and are wiped down upon return.

Is the archive open?

At this stage the archive is open for physical access via appointment only. Contact the library to make a booking.

Can I photocopy or scan documents?

Yes.
Photocopying, scanning and emailing documents will be provided for you by staff at the front counter.
Payment via card only, no cash accepted.
