Nominations are now open for the 2019 Christmas Pageant, with Council hoping to see back-to-back years of strong interest.

The pageant has occasionally struggled to attract nominations, however last year's event saw a flurry of activity with 55 floats in the motorcade and 14 stalls in Sturt Park for the after party.

Mayor Darriea Turley AM said she hoped last year's high level of enthusiasm and interest would be carried into the 2019 event.

"Every year we talk about what a wonderful local tradition and family event the Pageant is, and I think last year's procession showed that there is still a real passion for the Pageant amongst the community," she said.

"There was no talk of cancellation, everyone got their nominations in and worked together to ensure there was a great event for the kids of Broken Hill

"It was one of the biggest we've had in years, and I'm sure everyone would love to see local businesses and community groups go bigger again this year.

"I'd encourage everyone to get their nominations in early and ensure we continue to have a Pageant that I'm sure would be the envy of many cities across regional Australia."

The pageant will commence at 6pm on December 7, with the after party in Sturt Park to follow from 6.30pm.

The after party will feature a range of stalls and children's entertainment by Get Your Groove On.

The registration form for floats and stalls can be found below, or in the 'forms' section of Council's website. Please note applications close at 4.30pm on November 22.

The Christmas Pageant is conducted by Broken Hill City Council in partnership with the Rotary Club of Broken Hill South.
