Nominations are now open for the 2021 Volunteer Awards.

The awards and dinner celebration will be held at the Civic Centre in October, with awards to be considered across the categories of Community, Cultural, Environment, Event, Health and Social Services,

Manager/Supervisor, Tourism, Sporting, Youth, Emergency and People’s Choice.

Volunteer Working Group Chair, Councillor Marion Browne, said it was more important than ever to recognise our community's selfless volunteers.

"We weren't able to hold an event to recognise our volunteers last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which was terribly disappointing," said Cr Browne.

"Hopefully we see lots of nominations this year to celebrate all the good work undertaken by our many volunteers.

"Many of the services, programs, events, and sports we enjoy in Broken Hill would simply cease if not for volunteers, so if you know somebody who makes a contribution to our city I urge you to nominate them for an award."

Nominations will be accepted until August 31, 2021.

Nomination forms can be completed online via the forms section of the BHCC website via www.brokenhill.nsw.gov.au/Community/Volunteers/Volunteer-Award-Nomination

Anyone requiring assistance can contact Shannan Botten in the Events Team (events@brokenhill.nsw.gov.au or 8080 3322) who will arrange for one of the Volunteer Working Group Members to provide assistance.

Members of the Volunteer Working Group will also be at the August Community Markets to promote and discuss the Awards, and can provide assistance in person.
