A Tale of Two Rivers Exhibition

Rivers worldwide are under threat from over-extraction and climate change, and the rivers are talking to one another. 

The Water Justice Hub, an initiative of the Australian National University presents a night of art and discussion at the Broken Hill Art Exchange. It features two Australian waterways, Baaka & Martuwarra (West Kimberley, WA).

A Tale of Two Rivers details decades of over-extraction, mismanagement and abuses inflicted on Baaka, including the 2018/2019 fish kills and the disastrous fish kills of March this year. We will be travelling to Martuwarra in the Kimberley with a film screening of The Serpent’s Tale, where we will learn about Martuwarra First Law and the spirit of the rainbow serpent, which is threatened by a rapidly changing climate and looming irrigation interests. 

This exhibition stimulates us to continue to speak with our waterways and fight for their right to exist as sentient beings. This exhibition invites everyone to get involved in the story of our rivers.
