The Procurement Policy, Procurement Procedure and Tendering Procedure set the framework for how we purchase and spend public money.

The purpose of these policies are to set out the requirements and management of purchasing goods to ensure Council adhere with current legislation to ensure cost effective purchases, best practice and accountability.

All Tenders, Quotations and Expressions of Interest are advertised in the Barrier Daily Truth (Broken Hill's newspaper), relevant national and regional newspapers, and on Council's website as required.

Council has a requirement to formally tender for goods and services where the anticipated expenditure for the life of the contract (over a two year period) is greater than $150,000 (incl GST).

Any procurement that involves expenditure above this amount must be conducted in accordance with Council’s Tendering Procedure.

Any purchase of goods and services below $150,000  (incl GST) must be conducted in accordance with Council’s purchasing procedure by following a quotation process.

Expression of Interest

Council can request the services of qualified contractors and companies to assist its teams complete projects by calls for an Expression of Interest.

Expressions should be written in conjunction with Council's Procurement Policy
