Local businesses and community groups have again thrown their support behind the Christmas Pageant, with 50 floats registered for this year's event.

The big pool of nominations means the city will boast a massive pageant motorcade for the second year in a row.

Mayor Darriea Turley AM said the strong support for the Pageant would be welcomed by local families.

"We had 55 nominations last year, and this year we've received 50," she said.

“To receive such a large number of nominations in consecutive years is really encouraging, and shows the pageant remains an important event for Broken Hill.

"All nominees should be congratulated for making the effort to provide a great evening for the city's kids and their families."

The Christmas Pageant will commence at 6pm on December 7, with the floats travelling along Oxide, Argent, and Sulphide Streets

The after party in Sturt Park will then commence from 6.30pm with children's entertainment by Get Your Groove On.

“The after party is shaping up very nicely as well, with 10 community stall nominations received," said Mayor Turley.

"These will of course be complemented by the Community Markets operating out of the Centre For Community from 5pm.

“Overall we’re expecting it to be a huge night of fun for kids and families, and can’t wait to celebrate with everyone."
