Massive street festival for CBD
Published on 29 August 2025
Argent Street will come to life with a huge street party this week for the staging of the inaugural Beyond The Dust Festival.
The all-ages event will run from 5pm-9pm on Saturday September 6, and feature live music, late night shopping, public art, markets, food and drink vendors, bar facilities, camel rides, and a merry-go-round in town square.
Queensland country rock trio Vixens Of Fall will light up the main stage with their signature sound and fierce harmonies, while Mildura DJ Ash Turner will be pumping out dance beats at the other end of the festival.
Council's Community Development Coordinator, Rachel Merton, said local retailers' response to the Festival so far had been encouraging.
"Events like this can't really come together unless large parts of the business community get on board, and thankfully lots of shops have been very keen to take part," said Ms Merton.
"Late night shopping is something many locals remember fondly so it's great to bring that back, and the shops will be complemented by a wide range of market stalls.
"The food and drink options are also a real highlight, with everything from slow-cooked BBQ and woodfired pizzas through to cupcakes and fairy floss for the kids.
"It's shaping up to be a huge event, and we want to thank everyone for their support so far."
Attendees are welcome to bring fold out chairs to enjoy the live music. For full retail and food and drink listings along with more event details please visit https://www.brokenhill.nsw.gov.au/Community/Beyond-The-Dust-Festival
Motorists are advised changed traffic conditions and road closures will commence from 10am on Saturday morning. Affected streets will include Argent, Oxide, Chloride Streets and Gawler Place, and residents are asked not to park their vehicles in the CBD overnight on Friday night.
Beyond The Dust Festival is proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program, led by Transport for NSW and delivered by Broken Hill City Council with the support of Foundation Broken Hill. Council was successful in receiving $350,000 through the Open Streets Program over three years.
