Nominations are now open for young women looking to make their formal debut in 2023.

Up to 12 places are available for this year's Civic Ball, with nominations closing June 2, 2023.

The Ball is a longstanding tradition in the city, and is believed to be amongst the longest-running debutante events in Australia.

The Ball will be held on September 22, and will mark another step in the event's revival after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor Tom Kennedy said he hoped the event would continue to grow after it returned to the social calendar last year.

"The Civic Ball hadn't been held in a few years due to COVID so it was great to see it return last year, it was an amazing night for everyone in attendance," said Mayor Kennedy.

"It's always such a glamorous evening and an unforgettable experience that young people will cherish for the rest of their lives.

"If there's any young people out there contemplating making their debut, I'd encourage them to contact the Events team as soon as possible.

Civic Ball nominations are open to young people 15 years and older, and can be lodged online here.
