On this day in 1902 two young miners, Leopold Campbell and Thomas Jordan, were tragically killed on this Line of Lode. Their bodies were never recovered.
It is appropriate therefore that the MEU and BHCC have agreed that annually, on 8 October, we will assemble and honour all those that have been killed on our mines or have died from mining related injuries and or mining related disease.
Broken Hill will pay tribute to those miners who have gone before us at the Miners Memorial Service. The service will be held at the Miners Memorial on the Line of Lode on Thursday, 8 October 2026 at 5pm.
