There are less than two weeks left to nominate someone for the 2020 Australia Day Awards.

The nomination period was recently extended, and Council is currently accepting nominations for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, and Senior Citizen of the Year.

Deputy Mayor and Australia Day Advisory Group Chair, Christine Adams, encouraged residents to nominate locals who have made an outstanding contribution to the city or the Far West.

"The awards are for anyone who has made a difference to our community, it's not just for volunteers or people who contribute during their own time," said Cr Adams.

"They recognise people who make a special effort in their everyday life to better our community.

“So if you know someone who always goes that extra mile to improve Broken Hill or the Far West, be sure to nominate them to ensure they get the credit they deserve.”

The Broken Hill Australia Day Awards will be presented at the Broken Hill Civic Centre on 26 January 2020.

Those wishing to make a nomination can find forms here. Nominations must be received no later than 11.59pm on Sunday, October 20, 2020.
