This program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing through the National Respite for Carers Program
What Is the National Respite For Carers Program (NRCP)?
The National Respite for Carers Program is one of several initiatives designed to support and assist relatives and friends caring at home for people who are unable to care for themselves because of chronic illness, disability or frailty.
Caring for someone full time is physically and emotionally demanding. From time to time, carers need to be able to take some time out from their caring role.
The National Respite for Carers Program offers opportunities for carers to do just that.
Who Is Eligible?
To be eligible for these services you need to be an identified carer.
A carer is a family member, friend or neighbour, who provides regular and ongoing unpaid care and assistance to another person. Carers may support these people in their own home or in the community.
You are eligible to use this service if you receive a Carers Pension and/or the Carers Allowance.
