With Section 355 (s355) Committee numbers falling, a former Councillor has called for more support in managing community assets.
Ray Steer became Chair of the Memorial Oval s355 Committee in 2004 while serving as a Councillor, and has remained in the position even though he departed Council in 2012.
He said he stayed on with the Committee as there was a sense of satisfaction in continually working to provide a great facility for the community.
The Memorial Oval is reaping the rewards of a having a strong committee, with a range of recent upgrades including an improved playing surface, new irrigation system, and various changeroom upgrades.
He said the ground would also see the installation of an electronic scoreboard, new grandstand seating, and improved toilet facilities in the future.
"It's about pulling together and doing something for the enjoyment of the community," said Ray.
"(Amenities) are only as good as their Committees, and we're lucky that we have a good secretary, treasurer and sub-committee."
Not all s355 Committees are as fortunate however, with several in dire need of representatives.
The Riddiford Arboretum Community Committee has only half of its usual 12 representatives, while the 12-member ET Lamb Committee has 12 vacancies, with not a single nomination to date.
Mr Steer said it would be great to see more community members involved.
"We're all not getting any younger, we need some new blood and fresh ideas," he said.
"You look at the Riddiford Arboretum Committee, a lot of them are older ladies and I'm sure they could use some help.
"We need more people involved, and that's across all the s355 committees."
Vacancies are still available on the following committees: Alma Oval (3), BIU Band Hall (6), ET Lamb Memorial Oval (12), Memorial Oval (1), Norm Fox Sporing Complex (13), Picton Sportsground (4), Riddiford Arboretum (6), BH Community Strategic Round Table (2).
