The City of Progress
Bankstown City Council provides a range of services and facilities for residents, visitors and local businesses. Bankstown, which was established in 1797 by Governor Hunter in honour of Sir Joseph Banks, is today one of the largest Local Government Areas in New South Wales, with approximately 180,000 residents speaking more than 60 different languages.
Sister City Partnership Program
For the past 25 years it's been all about the sport, as Bankstown and Broken Hill have co-hosted an annual youth sporting exchange as part of the Sister City Program. Inspired by the silver anniversary of this relationship in 2011 both Councils committed to diversifying and building on the links already established between our cities. The result - Bankstown and Broken Hill in Song.
