The board of Broken Hill Community Inc manages the Centre for Community; its office, building and grounds for the community.
The Office is responsible for managing the diary for meetings, seminars and workshops held at the Centre, in the Parkview Room, Green Room, 2 other meeting rooms, the Men’s Shed or in the grounds. Community Markets are held in the grounds on the 2nd Saturday of every month except January. (too hot)
With its informal partners, Broken Hill South Rotary, Business Broken Hill, Broken Hill City Council and Country Energy/Water we share the responsibility for educating and informing the public about best practice for water usage and sustainable living through seminars at the centre, by our water wise gardens, appropriate signage, solar power panels putting power back into the grid on sunny days and by other examples of good practice at the centre for community. We have recently partnered with ERIA to host art projects at the centre over the next few years. The community is invited to assist build and construct art works, with visiting artists. (It will be advertised so you know when to come).
Regular community groups the meet and/or are situated at the centre are the Garden Club, The Mineral Club and The Community Radio Station. Turn to 107.7 on your FM tuner.
Become a recognised member of your Community (membership is $3.30pa) and you are welcome to use the centre for your own pet project/s, hold your club meetings there and attend other events at the Centre.
