School holidays at the library

The library has free activities for a range of ages during school holidays.
Attendance is free, as is library membership.
No bookings required unless otherwise stated.
Computer access for people under 18 years of age requires adult permission, in person or recorded on their library membership.

Tuesday 14th January - Tech Tuesday

2.30pm - 3.30pm

Delve into Augmented Reality with merge cubes, bring your colouring in to life with the Quiver app, or get creative with the green screen, choose your background and immerse yourself into another world or place.

Wednesday 15th January - Little Bang Discovery Club

10.30am - 11.30am

Little Bang Discovery Club is a fun interactive program that combines everyday objects and experiences with genuine scientific enquiry methods that children and their accompanying co-learners (adult) will enjoy.

The program is designed for attendance at all sessions and covers the very basics of science: collecting, classifying, measuring and experimenting. This session covers collecting, classifying and measuring.

In the final session a mini-science fair is held where the children, alongside their adult co-learner will showcase a science experiment they learnt at home to the group.

While aimed at ages 3 years to 5 years, older children are welcome to join in and may pair up with younger children as a co-learner.

Thursday 16th January

2.30pm - 3.30pm

Test your engineering skills and get creative with Strawbees!

You could use strawbees to build a catapult or a mechanical crane or come up with your own design.

Friday 17th January - Music and movement

10.30am - 11.30am

We're getting loud in the library this morning with music, instruments, dancing and rhythm building games.

This program is aimed at children between 2 years to 6 years, younger children may require extra caregiver guidance.

It's 'bot Tuesday! Discover coding with Sphero, BeeBot and our newest addition, ArtieBot!

Each have a variety of ways you can learn coding in a fun way!

Wednesday 22nd January - Little Bang Discovery Club

10.30am - 11.30am

Little Bang Discovery Club is a fun interactive program that combines everyday objects and experiences with genuine scientific enquiry methods that children and their accompanying co-learners (adult) will enjoy.

The program is designed for attendance at all sessions and covers the very basics of science: collecting, classifying, measuring and experimenting.
This session involves hands on science experiments which may include rain cloud in a jar and mini volcanoes.
There is a take home exercise for participants to create an experiment to present to the group for the mini-science fair next week.

While aimed at ages 3 years to 5 years, older children are welcome to join in and may pair up with younger children as a co-learner.

Little Bang Discovery Club is a fun interactive program that combines everyday objects and experiences with genuine scientific enquiry methods that children and their accompanying co-learners (adult) will enjoy.

This final session is a mini-science fair, where the children alongside their adult co-learner can showcase a science experiment to the group.
There will be additional hands on experiments set up to explore after the demonstration.

While aimed at ages 3 years to 5 years, older children are welcome to join in and may pair up with younger children as a co-learner.
