This multi-award winner was hands-down the best book I read in 2019! Great mixture of expressive prose and lyrical poetry by a refugee who spent seven years on Manus Island.

Australia: origins to Eureka by Thomas Kenneally
Currently reading this fascinating account of the invasion of the continent by reflection on the bewilderment of the Eora people at the arrival of “ghost people” on their shores and the struggles of the convicts send to populate the British “colony”. Very thought-provoking.
