The competition theme "The Visitor" was chosen with the pandemic in mind however, entrants can interpret the theme in anyway they choose to spark creative prose in the form of a fiction, non-fiction or poetry 500-word written piece.

Entry is free, submissions close on Friday 2nd October
Maximum length of the work is 500 words (title not included).
Works will be uploaded to this website and available for viewing and people's choice judging between Friday 9th October and Friday 30th October
Winners will be announced on Friday 13th November through participating organisations Facebook pages.
Prize: $500 and inclusion on the eBook platform IndyReads

All entrants must live in the Far West New South Wales region, which includes residents of Broken Hill, Wentworth Shire Council, Central Darling Shire or the Western Unincorporated Area.
All entries must be the original and unpublished work of the entrant and not currently submitted for publication, any other competition or award.
Digital entries strongly preferred via submission below due to COVID-19, accesibility and sustainability.
Writers can submit multiple entries, each entry requires individual submission.
It is a requirement of entry to include contact information.
All entrants must agree that the participating organisations reserve the right to publish, broadcast, or publicly perform all submitted works for promotional purposes only.
Credit will be given to the author at all times.
The author retains copyright of their work at all times.
Employees, Board members and immediate family of all participating organisations are ineligible to enter.

This competition is a collaboration developed between Under the Silver Tree Cooperative Bookshop, Broken Hill City Library, Wentworth Libraries and West Darling Arts (the Partners).

Participating organisations can accept physical entries if required.
