Feminist cross-stitch : 40 bold & fierce patterns / Stephanie Rohr

Image of the four main characters of rat queens; Betty, Dee, Hannah and Violet

The author was a cross‑stitcher from early childhood through her teens, before becoming disillusioned with available patterns and hibernating the hobby for a few years.

As an adult, she began looking for more than the traditional flowers and geometrics. After the 2016 U.S. presidential election, she began designing more political and feminist art and presents these patterns to others wanting to display their activism. They range from gentler messages to militant statements.

I can’t cross‑stich, but am full of admiration for this exquisite art. Take a look! Crafty activists will love this snarky book with its 40 irreverent, vintage-inspired cross-stitch patterns
