Civic Centre services during COVID-19

All of Council's facilities are currently in the process of gradually reopening after being interrupted due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Please note that Council is taking a cautious approach to all facility openings in order to meet Government guidelines, and ensure the safety of the community and staff.

Hours of Operation

Access to the Civic Centre is available in the following ways:

  • to attend an event that has been booked at the venue
  • by appointment only, for inspections to hire venue. To arrange please email us or phone 08 8080 3575.

To book tickets to events please do so via the Buy Tickets page, or by calling our box office Monday to Friday between 10am and 4pm on 08 8080 3575.

Changes to Services

To help keep everyone safe, please read the following information before attending the Civic Centre and follow all staff directions while in the venue.

What we’re asking you to do as an attendee

  • Wear a mask at all times while in the Civic Centre, except when consuming food or drinks.
  • Register your attendance in our venue using the QR Codes available at all entry points to the facility.  Staff onsite can assist those patrons who do not own a smart phone to register their details. Information on where to download the Service NSW App is available here.
  • Contact information for those attending a ticketed event booked through the Civic Centre's Box Office; such as theatre productions, concerts and performances, will be collected via Council ticket platform in accordance with normal ticket transaction process.  Please ensure you enter your most current details when booking tickets, contact details for each ticket holder must be provided.  Patrons will also need to use QR Codes on entry, prior to being allowed into the Auditorium for your event.
  • If applicable, bring a credit or debit card for any on-site purchases (we do not accept cash).
  • Don’t visit the Civic Centre if:
    • you’re unwell,
    • you have experienced cold or flu symptoms
    • you've visited an identified exposure site in the last 14 days,
    • you have been identified by any State or Federal government health department as a close-contact,
    • you have returned from overseas in the last 14 days.

What we’re asking you to do as an Event Owner

  • Communicate to all attendees of your event that they will be required to register their attendance at our facility on arrival. Staff onsite can assist those who do not own a smart phone to register their details.  Information on where to download the Service NSW App is available here.
  • Ensure all patrons/delegates are aware of the conditions in place at the venue prior to their arrival.
  • Ensure you have read and understand your obligations as outlined in our Covid Safe Hirer Information brochure.

At the Civic Centre

  • Register your attendance at the facility on entry using the QR Codes on display.
  • Use hand-sanitiser stations provided on arrival and throughout the venue.
  • Keep at least 1.5 metres distance from others at all times.
  • Follow all directional signage and staff directions.
  • Allow less-mobile visitors to use lift first, or consider using the stairs. Our lift is limited to 2 persons at a time.
  • Cough and sneeze into your elbow or a tissue, and put the tissue in a bin.
  • Wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds in our restrooms.

Visitors who don’t comply with these conditions will not be admitted or will be asked to leave to ensure the safety of all.

All contact tracing information details captured via QR Code within the facility are automatically sent to and sored by NSW Health. 

What we’re doing for you

  • There is clear signage throughout the venue to help patrons/delegates maintain safe distances.
  • Each space has its maximum capacity, based on square metre rules as set by the NSW Government.  These limits can be viewed under Current Capacities below.  Please follow instructions from staff.
  • We’ve set out event spaces in consultation with Event owners to ensure patrons/delegates can move safely throughout the venue.
  • We’re cleaning frequently with hospital-grade disinfectants, regular cleaning occurs between sessions and high-touch areas are cleaned following high volume use through the course of a booking.
  • We’ve provided hand sanitisers at the Civic Centre entry and at various places throughout the venue.
  • We will continue to be guided by the NSW Government’s health guidelines and will provide updates to this information.

Wedding Ceremonies and Receptions

  • Hirers will be required to provide a COVID Safety Plan for their event a minimum seven (7) days prior to their event.  If provided at time of booking NSW State Government guidelines could change, if this occurs a new plan will need to be recieved. 
  • Only the official wedding party to a maximum of 20 persons are permitted on the dancefloor.  Official wedding party at Civic Centre is defined as Bride, Groom, Bridal Party, Bride's Parents/Step-parents/Legal Guardian and Groom's Parents/Step-parents/Legal Guardian. Staff will suggest floor plans available with the organiser, that reduce the temptation from guests to dance.  Members of the official wedding party must be advised to the venue; clearly stating each person's role in the official wedding party, a minimum 24 hours prior to the wedding date.
  • Group singing and wind instruments at events will be assessed on a booking by booking basis and discouraged in the first instance.
  • Guests can only consume alcohol while seated. Signage is in place and directions from staff and security should be followed.
  • House keeping messages are provided to organiser and use of recorded message available.
  • Encourage guests to have a pen with them for signing guest books.  Sanitiser should be placed at the signing table and organiser should monitor area to ensure guests are practicing good hygiene and sanitising.

Funerals, Memorial Services and Wakes

  • Group singing and wind instruments at events will be assessed on a booking by booking basis and discouraged in the first instance.
  • Guests can only consume alcohol while seated. Signage is in place and directions from staff and security should be followed.
  • House keeping messages are provided to organiser and use of recorded message available.
  • Encourage guests to have a pen with them for signing guest books.  Sanitiser should be places at the signing table and organiser should monitor area to ensure guests are practicing good hygiene and sanitising.
  • A current Covid-Safe plan will need to be provided by all Funeral Homes that use the venue to facilitate a funeral.
