All of Council's facilities are currently in the process of gradually reopening after being interrupted due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Please note that Council is taking a cautious approach to all facility reopenings in order to meet Government requirements, and ensure the safety of the community and staff.
As part of these precautionary measures, there will be some changes to the Albert Kersten Mining & Minerals Museum. In order to protect the safety and wellbeing of our visitors, community and tourists we will be operating under a by-appointment system.
How This Will Work
The Albert Kersten Mining & Minerals Museum will be hosting multiple sessions throughout our operating hours. These sessions will allow up to 15 people access to the museum for 45 minutes. These sessions will be ticketed and as a precaution we will require information for contact tracing. Tickets can be obtained from our ticketing website or by phoning the Museum directly on 08 8080 3501.
Our opening hours will change to reflect our current capacities. The Albert Kersten Mining & Minerals Museum will open for set sesssions Tuesdays - Saturdays. We will host four sessions a day Tuesday - Friday at 10am, 11am, 12pm and 3pm. Saturdays will host three sessions; 10am, 11am and 12pm. As these sessions run for 45 minutes, we will be taking the opportunity between sessions to clean all contact surfaces in preparation for our next visitors.
Your Safety Is Important To Us
As part of our reopening we have:
- We have paused interactive touchscreens, digitech and high contact surfaces in accordance with government requirements
- Added protective screens at our front counter
- Have added directional floor signage throughout the Museum
- Placed all stock in cases. We request you ask for staff aide when purchasing.
- Are currently cashless.
- Cleaning in progress between sessions.
We strive to maintain a clean and safe environment for you. Our sessions are scheduled as 45 minute intervals. Between each session our staff will clean all contact surfaces throughout the Museum before the next session begins.
