Council is pleased to announce the return of Liz Vines OAM to the role of Heritage Advisor for Broken Hill.

Liz previously served as the city's Heritage Advisor for 31 years and is a partner in Conservation and Heritage consulting firm McDougall and Vines.

She was a key driver in the city receiving a National Heritage Listing, serving as a key instigator, advocate and partner throughout the lengthy process.

She also authored two editions of "Broken Hill - A Guide To The Silver City", which was a sold-out success in promoting the heritage of the city.

Council's acting Manager City Development and Planning, Anne Andrews, said the appointment was a great result for Broken Hill.

"Liz's record in heritage and conservation speaks for itself, she has provided vital input into various heritage strategies, policies, and plans to ensure the preservation of the city's history remains a key focus for Broken Hill."

Liz received an Order of Australia Medal in 2009 for her contribution to heritage conservation in Australia and Asia, and previously served as president of the International Council on Monuments and Sites for Australia.

In 2019 Liz was recognised with an Outstanding Commendation alongside The Hon. Simon R. Molesworth AO QC and Peter Oldsen at the John Reid Heritage Awards.
