Council is poised to renew its pursuit of funding for a new skate park with last night's adoption of the budget coinciding with Government grant opportunities.

Council locked in $350,000 toward a new skate park when passing the budget, and on Monday Minister for Western NSW, Adam Marshall, announced that $843,000 in funding would be made available for local projects that benefit youth and the community through the Stronger Country Communities program.

Council was unsuccessful in attracting funding for the skate park under the previous round of Stronger Country Communities, however Mayor Darriea Turley AM said Council would redouble its efforts to see the project funded.

"Our previous community engagement around the skate park showed the project is very well supported by the community, and is something our youth genuinely want and need," said Mayor Turley.

"We believe we put a strong case forward for the project during the previous round of funding, and we'll certainly be pushing hard for it again this time around.

"I know Minister Marshall has a strong focus on improving the lives of youth in the Far West, so hopefully that augurs well for this project's prospects."
