Current and prospective workers in the hospitality industry are invited to undertake free food safety training via Council's website.

The I’M ALERT Food Safety Training page can provide the basic food handling training required of hospitality employees under the Food Act 2003.

Council's Environmental Health Officer, Jess Ierace, said the training is fast, free, and flexible.

"The I'M ALERT program can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and the whole program can be completed in around 2 hours," said Ms Ierace.

"However it can also be completed in stages, and participants can save their progress and return later.

"Upon successful completion users will receive a printable certificate as proof of their training."

Those wishing to undertake free food safety training can visit the I'M ALERT page at Council's website here.
