Groovy pre-loved clothes are a staple of any good garage sale run, and a series of online fashion masterclasses are being held next month with a focus on second-hand chic.

The masterclasses are part of this year’s Garage Sale Trail festivities, a multi-award-winning community and sustainability event aimed at reducing landfill and supporting residents to reuse and reduce waste at home.

The free sessions will take residents on a journey to learn new skills, save money, and farewell fast fashion forever.

The sessions are open to everyone in Broken Hill (irrespective of whether they are having a garage sale), however limited spots are available and locals are encouraged to register early at www.garagesaletrail.com.au/get-involved/online-masterclasses

The masterclass schedule is as follows:

3 October: The Ultimate Wardrobe Declutter

Learn to declutter your wardrobe sustainably with Sally Flower, the first ever Australian trained to “spark joy” in the now world famous KonMari method.

24 October: Fashion First Aid

Receive your fashion first aid training with the nation’s leading clothes-mending practitioner Erin Lewis-Fitzgerald (author of Modern Mending) and ‘Stain Slayer’ Christina Reitano.

7 November: The Art of Secondhand Styling

Master secondhand styling with some of the country’s biggest names in sustainable styling and fashion including Hannah Klose (Never Ever Pay Retail) and Natalie Shehata (founder and editor of tommie magazine).

Garage Sale Trail is a NSW EPA Waste Less Recycle More initiative funded from the waste levy and supported by Broken Hill City Council.

To host a garage sale or shop the Trail you can register for free and get more information at garagesaletrail.com.au.
