Council will again host a huge New Year's Eve party in Sturt Park featuring family entertainment and two fireworks displays.

This year's event will feature a new inflatable obstacle course for kids, the Mega Xtreme 2, and a new attraction called The Eliminator.

The Eliminator challenges kids or adults to stand atop a small podium and dodge or jump large padded rotating arms at the centre of the inflatable arena.

The two new attractions will be complemented by the return of laser tag, which is hosted inside Australia's largest inflatable maze.

Kids can purchase wristbands to gain unlimited access to all three activities throughout the night for just $10, and those who get in early will receive a 2-for-1 meal voucher kindly donated by McDonalds Broken Hill.

Mayor Darriea Turley AM said the array of entertainment would ensure kids of all ages will be well entertained.

"We've got a great line up of activities this year, it should keep the kids busy and give parents a well-earned chance to relax on New Years," she said.

"I think The Eliminator will be really popular, fans of the TV show Wipe Out will know how fun and entertaining an attraction like this can be for both the participants and the crowd.

"We'll also have activities for kids under five including a ball pit, Ninja Warrior style equipment and a rainbow climbing dome that have been donated for use by YMCA Broken Hill, so hopefully all age groups will have something to enjoy on the night."

The party will also feature live music by local and visiting acts, and food and drink stalls by Chalky’s, Fake'n'Baked, St Joe's Soccer Club, and the Scouts.

The evening will again be lit up with fireworks displays, with a main display at 9.15pm followed by an encore fireworks show atop the Line Of Lode from midnight.

Mayor Turley said she hoped the event is again well received by the public.

"We received amazing feedback last year, so we've tried to stick with a winning formula," she said.

"We are aware some pets get scared by fireworks however, so please ensure they are kept safe and secure during the fireworks displays."

The New Years Eve Party gets underway at 5.30pm, and will conclude at 9.30pm.
