Broken Hill City Council

Smoke Free Broken Hill

The Broken Hill Smoke Free Playground and Sporting Policy was adopted in 2008 and covers all Council owned sporting facilities, parks, playgrounds and the Broken Hill Regional Aquatic Centre.

In the interest of public health, the policy restricts smoking on or within 10 metres of Council owned sporting fields and playgrounds. The policy is for the benefit of all members, administrators, officials, coaches, players, volunteers, visitors and spectators.

Broken Hill City Council in collaboration with Far West Local Health District (FWLHD) aims to ensure that children and spectators can enjoy sport and our open spaces without being exposed to the negative effects of second hand environmental tobacco smoke.
