A key role of local government is to ensure the delivery of services needed for everyday living, such as roads, garbage collection, street lighting, libraries, etc. Although local government services do not often have to compete for the customer's business, customer satisfaction is as important as for services involving competition. Additionally, the processes of setting priorities for Council action and allocating Council resources are effectively informed and guided by consultation with customers.
Broken Hill City Council is firmly committed to achieving best practice in the delivery of local government services. To ensure that this occurs, Council provides opportunity for the community to have their say on many different levels.
Broken Hill City Council views consultation as a way of improving services to the community. The following principles apply:
• Council's customers have a right to express their views about Council policies and services;
• Council's customers have a right to participate in decisions which affect their daily lives or local environment;
• Council's customers have a right to information about Council priorities, expenditure and programs.
This area of Council's website provides the community with current planning documents which are on display for public comment.
Council advises the community of the public exhibition of the Broken Hill Draft Local Environmental Plan 2013 (the Draft LEP) and the Strategic Land Use Plan.
