Broken Hill City Council

Broken Hill City Council Delivery Program

Council has determined to take a longer term planning approach to address major issues for the Broken Hill community and the Council organisation. These issues include the end of mining life and potential new mining, employment opportunities, further development of tourism, arts, cultural, film and renewable energy industries, demographic changes in the City's population, ageing public infrastructure and declining Council revenues. Accordingly Council has developed a Resourcing Strategy to align with the Key Directions identified in the Broken Hill 2030 - Community Strategic Plan.

To align with new legislation and good business practice Council each year also prepares a Delivery Program with respect to the Council's activities for at least the next four years and the Council's Operational Plan including Financial Plan for the next year.

The Delivery Program and Operational Plan sit under and complement the Community Strategic Plan and takes into account outcomes from community consultation, new and existing strategic plans and the identified needs and outcomes in respect of community access and equity. Essentially Council's "business plan", the Delivery Program and Operational Plan include Council's Financial Plan, revenue, pricing policies and operational requirements and are reviewed annually.
