Can I plant trees on the nature strip?

Yes.

To prevent damage to your property, footpath, kerbing and drainage systems the following trees are preferred by Council's Parks and Gardens Department.

  • Lindsay Gum
  • Fuchsia Gum
  • Weeping Bottlebrush
  • West Australia Red Flowering Gum

If you are considering planting trees or shrubs on the nature strip we will supply Council approved plants free of charge.

Prior to planting a Council Officer will mark out the planting position for the trees or shrubs accoring to Council regulations.

If you have another species in mind, check first with the Parks and Gardens Department and then plant!  You do not want to be responsible for damage incurred if the tree becomes invasive.
