Water Wise Projects

Broken Hill is a desert community, in the heart of Australia, the sunburnt country. We experience severe droughts and have learned to live with infrequent rain events. These factors combined, make our clever use of water, a precious resource, of the utmost importance to maintaining our thriving metropolis and our standard of living. Wise water use must become our way of life.

Broken Hill City Council in conjunction with Country Water and other community and Government agencies has initiated several programs to assist the residents of Broken Hill to become smart water users, providing them with examples of ways to maintain our green spaces and remain lead safe. At the same time, enjoying lovely gardens at home and beautiful public spaces in our city.

Please take the time to browse the followng water wise programs and let them inspire you to be a lead safe, smart water user and join us in creating a beautiful Broken Hill for locals and visitors alike.
