THE POSITION

This challenging position is for an experienced and qualified Civil Engineer who will report directly to the Group Manager Infrastructure and have up to eight direct report employees. The Assets Manager will be responsible for contract and project management, provide technical backup, coordinate and oversee technical and design staff, provide an asset management approach to Council's infrastructure and manage RTA and other contracts.

THE PERSON

The successful applicant will have at least five years' recent and relevant industry experience, have tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering and be eligible for Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia. Other requirements include knowledge and experience in project and contract management and proven leadership ability, excellent communication and computer skills, management of staff, a strong business acumen at both strategic and operational levels and an ability to apply risk management and EEO principles in decision making processes. Previous experience in road construction and maintenance and asset management and design would be an advantage.
